Give the gift of giving this Christmas. You may have seen in the news that in early November Bransby Horses equine rescue and welfare charity in Lincolnshire, suffered horrendous flooding. 40% of available grazing land was consumed by flood water, putting the welfare of more than 400 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules at risk.

We know a lot of One Club members have donated to the cause already and Harry Hall are encouraging equine lovers far and wide to give the gift of giving this Christmas and help the Bransby Horse equines in need.

Donations in the form of money or product are encouraged and any donation you can give will be much appreciated by the charity in this time of urgent need.

Chief Executive Jo Snell reminded us that it’s the aspects of flooding not immediately considered that have caused the most disruption. “The floods have, in parts, potentially brought and spread human sewage onto our site, and this, combined with inches of water, means the land which some of our animals usually graze on, is unsafe. We are working on short-term and long-term plans to help combat the hazardous conditions which are worsening every day, and these are predicted to continue as such for many months to come. More than 40% of the grazing land, so desperately needed with the upcoming winter, has been deemed unsafe, for at least 6-12 months.”

Bransby flooding

Bransby Horses relies on donations from supporters and from their events, to fund the care for equines they look after. The floods mean that land the event visitors would park on and walk through, are now out of bounds. Many of the charity’s popular events have been cancelled, leading to a fall in essential income. To help provide the specialist care required by the 400 equines at Bransby Horses, the charity have launched a fundraising appeal and as horse lovers, here’s how you can help:

Rehome a horse or pony
The charity need to find fosterers for rescued and rehabilitated horses and ponies now looking for find a new home. This is even more important following the charity losing 40% of their land in a matter of days in November 2019.
