Horse Legal Advice.
Online and over the phone.

At Harry Hall, we’re committed to helping our members enjoy their life with horses and ride safely. We know that legal issues can crop up at any time and dealing with them can be stressful, so we’ve made access to confidential and expert advice easy for you.

What legal advice is on offer for horse owners?

Members with access can: use our legal helpline to talk through disputes or take the advice of a legal professional, put together a horse sale agreement online that is legally binding or factor the wishes for your horse into your will with the LawAssure platform.

What will happen to my horse if I die?

Without specified wishes or provisions for the care of a horse or pet in a will any decisions will be left to the executor. Alternatively, the horse owner can specify in their will who they'd like to leave the will to, whether they'd like to set up a trust to help support the horse's life or whether they'd want the horse to be rehomed.

Horse Sale Agreements

It’s not easy, we all have our own individual ways of looking after our horses. Disagreements can happen when horses are sold. From who the farrier should be, what bedding you should use, who the vet should be and feeding routines. Therefore it’s vital to have a horse sale agreement.

Epoq has a huge range of experience in advising on agreements that can help protect horse owners. You can answer the questions online on LawAssure and watch as a horse sales agreement document is drafted for you. It helps to make sure there are no grey areas, and you and your horse are protected.

Please note: full service is exclusive to Gold and Platinum members over tha age of 18+ that joined or renewed after 1st February 2024

It’s our mission to make horse ownership and country life more affordable and ease the stresses associated with things going wrong.

Horse riders and owners especially would benefit from having a will. A will allows you to designate who will take care of your horses if something happens to you. Without one, you risk your horse’s wellbeing which may then lead to neglect or uncertainty about their care.

By including your horse in your will, you can allocate financial resources, care instructions and ensure your assets are distributed according to your wishes. Doing so helps prevent disputes among family members or other individuals involved in your estate.

A will, being a legally binding document, can help protect your horse and equipment as well as offer peace of mind, knowing that you have made arrangements for the care and well-being of your horse and loved ones on your passing.

It can be worrying to think about what will happen to your horse and/or other pets when you die. If you’ve not made provisions in your will, it’s likely that your beloved horse may be left behind. It’ll then be up to the Executor of your will to try and find a new home for the horse. If no suitable person is found, your horse and/or pets will be taken to an animal shelter or charity.

If you’ve already made provisions in your will for your horse and/or other animals, then responsibility will be passed onto the person or charity of your choice.

Although many people do not update their will frequently, it actually makes sense to update your will whenever your circumstances change. This could be a change of financial circumstance, a relationship change, a new horse or pet or simply a change of heart when it comes to funeral wishes.

As well as editing a will, many amendments can also be made using a letter of wishes or codicil - luckily with the Harry Hall LawAssure service you can make these changes as frequently as you want for as long as you are a Gold member.
