This month we bring you news of how one of our 2021 charity partners is raising money to help equines who have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic in India. Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys is an international animal welfare charity transforming the lives of vulnerable working horses, donkeys and mules and the people who depend on them. Find out why your help is needed now more than ever.

Brooke's Emergency Appeal

India is experiencing an utterly devastating second wave of covid-19. Many Brooke staff are still working tirelessly in the field, doing all they can to support people and animals, as well as keeping safe themselves.

Brooke has launched an emergency appeal to raise £100,000 to support communities and working horses, donkeys and mules impacted by India’s devastating COVID-19 crisis. The lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in India are at risk right now as COVID-19 rages through the country. Animal food and medicine supplies are running out. It’s crucial that Brooke provides emergency supplies to keep these animals alive and well. They need your support.

Much of the work Brooke does is with remote and vulnerable communities that depend on their animals for survival. These loyal animals are the breadwinners of the family, going out to work in Brick Kilns to earn a living for their families. Or carrying food and water to keep their communities going. But animal food and medicine are running out. Now more than ever, it’s critical that Brooke provides emergency supplies to keep these animals alive and well. But they need your support.

Brooke is providing subsidised feed and medicines so that communities can feed their hard-working animals and ensure that the vital support they provide can continue. They urgently need your help to support and protect these working horses, donkeys and mules.

How your support could help:

  • £12.30 could help 50 equines needing urgent care by supplying first aid kits to their communities
  • £24.60 could help 100 equines needing urgent care by supplying first aid kits to their communities
  • £36.90 could help 150 equines needing urgent care by supplying first aid kits to their communities

Since 1992, Brooke India has transformed the lives of millions of working horses, donkeys and mules - and the people who depend on them. They have achieved lasting change for working horses, donkeys and mules in the communities we work with. Taking care of animals can be so easily forgotten in a pandemic but we must not let that happen. Visit Brooke’s website to make a donation and support these hard-working animals.
